Enhanced DBS Check

I called 101 again today at just gone 11am, and was transferred to a woman in the occupational checks department was barely audible, just mumbling away at me, I couldn't even catch her name, she sounded so bored.

She claimed they'd only received stage 4 on December 22 2017, that I don't really believe, but hey ho, perhaps phoning them give a nudge. But i'd been promised a call back to my Phone with further updates, as she had taken my number. But so far nothing, but I get home to see some progress.

Stage 1 (Application Form received and validated): Completed on 10 Nov 2017
Stage 2
(Police National Computer searched): Completed on 14 Nov 2017
Stage 3
(DBS Children, DBS Adults and List 99 searched, where applicable): Completed on 15 Nov 2017
Stage 4
(Records held by the Police search): Completed on 02 Jan 2018
Stage 5
(Certificate Printed): In Progress

It may be a case of how long is a piece of string, but how long does stage 5 generally take once stage 4 is completed?

Cheers
Not long at all. Btw told you didn't I that if you ring them they pull their finger out ;-)

I am a hospital porter mate and when I started I had my check complete, the other guys who didn't could not move patients on their own until theirs cleared, they had no problems doing anything else so I am sure you will be fine.

In my hospital you won't even get a start date until your DBS check is finalized so you are a bit lucky there.

I believe this is a 03000 number on the web Becker? Will maybe phone later for the sake of it...

Cheers

Certificate has been dispatched today.

I just need to find the link for automatic renewals?

Thanks

I know it's only 13 quid, but is it worth paying it? When this proposed work is uncontracted on availability status of myself (unless they play the as and when required game), juggling it around my other job...

Is it worth putting something so annoying as waiting for your DBS to come back to the back of your mind for £13? For me yes, it's 100% required for my work :p

Does paying this £13 fast track renewals in any sense? It's just if I go in to this field permanently, I don't want to suffer any downtime, loss of work etc (while renewal takes place).

There's no such thing as a renewal, your certificate is technically only valid until the day it's printed. The update service will tell any prospective employers if there have been any changes to your records since the certificate was issued, but not what those changes are unless you get a new DBS check.

I may just skip the auto update service for now, I have 30 days to mull it over.

If I went to a different Hospital within the same healthcare provider, to do the same level of work, would that require another DBS check? Or will the one I recently had suffice?

Cheers.

The answer to this kind of question is almost always "Ask your Employer, the DBS can't answer this question for you".

Stage 2 checks for convictions and cautions. Stage 4 checks for anything that might have been noted by the police about you but that hasn't resulted in a conviction or caution.

Well its changed a lot since I worked at the CRB.

We just used a PNC disk and if that was clear also the former addresses added up then all was ok.
