I sold an R9 270x that I know was working, on ebay and I suspect that the guy who bought it is trying to scam me. the only picture I have with serial numbers on it, is on the ebay listing. the numbers themselves are a little blurry.

does anyone know how I might enhance the picture? I tried to zoom in on the numbers by opening up windows paint(not the best idea I know) and pasting in the picture. no surprises that it didn't quite work though.

You might be able to open them up in something like photoshop or paint.net and then fiddle with the brightness, contrast and sharpness.

EDIT: had a look at the original listing photo. I doubt it can be enhanced enough to make the serial number fully visible, but there are enough characters/distinguishing features visible that I reckon you should be able to tell if any card the guy returns is the same.

I done some cutting , cropping and resizing on the numbers themselves . trying to enhance them enough to make them out in photo bucket.

Just downloaded this image and had a look at it in Photoshop. It's only 1024 x 768 and there's a large amount of JPEG compression, so it's essentially impossible to make out or enchance the serial number, it's just a blur. Even the bar codes are too blurred to be usable.

If you have a better resolution version of the photo then upload it and we can take another look. But if you don't then your best bet is to try to use other identifying features, such as scuff marks or the alignment /positioning of the labels etc. Note the scuff marks on the left copper heat sink pipe for example.

that's to the listing itself, the 2nd pic is the one with the bar codes and numbers on it.

Ok, that second pic is slightly higher resolution (1600 x 1200) but its still pretty noisy / compressed so it's hard to get anything out of it. I've tried a number of methods for boosting contrast, sharpening etc but couldn't get anything legible out of it. Perhaps someone knows some more 'forensic' techniques, but I just don't think there's sufficient detail in the photo to get anywhere. Sorry.

Can't add anything regarding the photo - looks like too low res and too much jpeg compression to get much from it.

Out of interest, in cases like this, (assuming the buyer is trying to scam and send his old broken card), do the police take much notice if you get them involved for the guy trying to defraud you?
