In a few weeks I will be purchasing a new 19" widescreen monitor and an agp 7600gt to upgrade my current system, I'm just wondering how long this setup with the mentioned upgrades should last me on reasonable graphics settings and frame rates.

Thanks

Jonny

Hi
How long are you going to keep it for? Can you stretch to the 7800gs or X1950pro? Either of those would last much longer with the next crop of games, until DX10 really kicks off!

Ideally I would like to keep the system running until at least June - July next year, My current monitor is a 17", i suppose I could drop the monitor and up my gfx card budget, but I don't really want to spend that much on something that I will only have for 8 months or so.

How long would the 7600gt last me? I'm also reluctant to spend more as the whole system really needs to be updated and sooner or later it will be impossible to play games on it because of my processor. :(

Thanks for any advice

Jonny

Ok, well go for the monitor your after and get either 7600gt or X800, not much in it tbh. You might find one cheap second hand! You should be able to run most games on med settings. Hope this helps.

Thanks, and these games will run on mid settings until I upgrade? I know it will play a lot of games on highest now as my friend has an agp 6800gs which plays all of the games he plays on highest settings with a 20.1" widescreen viewsonic.
However he does have a amd athlon 64 3000 and 2gig of ram on a skt 939 board.

Also I'm not too worried about getting a second hand card in stead of a new one as I have found a 7600gt for not much over the cost of the pci-e equivalent.

Thanks for the help guys

Jonny

Yeah most games released this year will be ok on medium, though that will change come next year.
