Enterprise AV

Sophos here, just rolling out NAC at the moment.

Regarding SAV, no issues other than it doesn't automatically clear PUA/Adware all of the time, and you have to manually clear it off the client - where as with Kaspersky click to remove and it's gone, no messing about!

NAC we've found a bit fiddly, we've had to introduce gradually due it's tendancy to shut everything out of the network and mis-identify endpoints and the like. I wouldn't opt for it again, given the choice - documentation is poor, the gui/console feels overmanaged, and the DHCP Enforcer/Radius setup doesn't work properly for us (at the moment).

Sophos Puremessage, worth a try if you haven't already, complements our Sonic appliances very well (for spam and email bound virus control).

I though this was fibre thats not in use? or do i have my wires crossed. ?

Andy

The term Dark Fibre is often misused in my experience. It does indeed refer to fibre that is provisioned in advance and left unlit until needed (hence dark).

Some people seem to use the term to describe any private fibre optic network of Metro or WAN scale.
