Enterprise Fax Solutions

There are different ways of handling incoming routing but the most straight forward is to give each user and/or department their own DDI number.

Then when the fax server answers the call, it can get the DDI number from the ISDN card and you have the mappings of DDI <> User defined in your fax software.

You can try to do things with OCR looking for a name on the incoming fax.

This is the GFI take on it : http://kbase.gfi.com/showarticle.asp?id=KBID001349

We're using a trial of a managed solution by Esker at the moment - although they seem very challenging when it comes to pricing so I am looking at the possibly of bringing it in house.

Does anyone have any reccomendations for managed solutions?

To continue the above - I have heard good things about Zeta Fax and these would be one of the first i'll start investigating further should we look at implementing in house.

cheers stokie, makes a lot of sense actually. I never thought about cleverness inside the server mapping fax numbers to people.
