EOS450D or D60?

Same. I got my cheque about a couple of weeks ago, still waiting on some more cashback elsewhere which will bring the total I paid for my 450D + kit lens to something like £315 :)

Nice - Wish I had known of deals like this when I got mine. Can you get rebates on lots of camera gear through other places then?

If you haven't bought yet, it might be worth seeing that price Kerso (google it) can do it for. His prices have gone up recently with the dollar-pound rate, but he's still cheaper than most.

Not sure specifically- I've just gotten into the habit of searching for the retailer I'm looking to purchase from at sites like Topcashback or Quidco before i buy, for an extra few % cashback. Having said that, it seems to take absolutely ages to process, but can't complain I guess!

difference between the 450D and 1000D:

Build quality, they stripped all of the textured rubber from the grip on the 1000D
450D has a 9 point focusing system from the 30D, the 1000D has the far inferior 7 point system from the 350D
the 1000D is the older sensor from the 400D
The 1000D has a 2.5" screen vs 3" on the 450D
the 1000D has a much smaller buffer so takes longer to clear shots and has less on burst

It's still a very good camera though, better than the d60 imo.

Tom.

Thanks - I'll have to look into that for when I next buy something :)

Save the extra £100 and get a D60.. You wont notice much difference ive been told.

Splash out for it if you want but it could be seen as a waste of money.

Both are good cameras and in comparison theres not that much difference but the 450D is better then the D60 but not much better and the D60 is a hell of a lot cheeper.

Sup to you.. Im getting a D60 next week, finally.

Not notice much difference?

You'll have many more lenses that can auto-focus on the 450D, but both cameras are good. The D60 still doesn't have the motor, though.

But i'd probably save the cash and get some accessories.

450d by a country mile, the D60 is in dire need of updating now, the 450D has:
Better focusing
CMOS rather than CCD so far better in low light
Bigger screen
Live view
Works with all lenses rather than about 5% like the nikon
Much better interface, less clunky menus and more buttons to press.
Ability to have a wired remote as well as the IR one
the 450D is better then the D60 but not much better.
From a beginners point, I'd call that fairly significantly better.

well i bought my 450d yesterday.....after the first few hours i was pretty disappointed.

but then i started searching the web and watched a few youtube clips...picked up on some things and starting to feel a lot better about the purchase.

even though some of the shots have been a bit poor the good ones have came out really good...so its clear the camera has a lot of potential, its just me that needs to be worked on.

had it for less than 24 hours so far...hopefully after a week i will be be able to give a better opinion of it.

same here...my first one too.
i had similar problems...no matter what lighting i set it too...there was too much red.
tried sun cloudy fluorescent the light bulb...all of them. then afterwards i tried shooting in night mode and it was perfect.

not sure if it needed switching on and off but hopefully il work it out 2nite.

Can buy the best gear in the world but if the photographer is crap the images will be pants.

Remember when I upgraded from the 350D to the 40D, initially my images were worse than on my old camera....now however...cannot even compare :D

you'll save £100 but end up with a camera without live view, a smaller screen, a far worse AF system and lacking the ability to use none af-s lenses.....as soon as you want a 50mm prime you've saved £200 over the nikon :p

has anybody had any problem with colours ?
when i view them on the camera they look great....yet when i copy them over to my computer they look like the screen is in 256 colours.

viewing them in photoshop is a bit better but still not the same.....my last 2 canon camera's didnt have this problem at all. i can understand the colours being setup a bit different but this doesnt even look close....especially pink and red....pink lipstick looks like it was crayoned onto the persons face.

also had a problem when shooting indoors when the room wasnt very well lit...unless i shoot in portrait night mode the photo's are terrible.....quite a bit of noise and a massive brown/red push even when i use a grey card or flick through every white balance.

even on all auto my little ixus wipes the floor with it.

1 more thing.....when the room isnt too well lit im getting little lines running through the lcd like a scart lead not completely plugged into the back of the t.v.

actually i think im going to exchange it for another 450d....just to give me piece of mind.

Would you be saying that because you're buying a D60?

*scroll down*

:D

Meh, i dont wana use live view, i wana learn properly.

As for the Lens, spose your right. I know eff all really lol im just going on what ive been told in my "which DSLR" thread :D

I suppose if you can afford it then go for it, its a better camera :p I think i might be able to buget one in if i wanted to wait a little longer, but if i was to wait longer id go for the D90.
