ep3 type R

No, but really all your doing is rev'n the left one off it, only way to have fun in one is to drive like a joyrider and look like a pleb at 8k rpm. I just dont see how there really fun,

I am replacing a 2.0 tdci mondeo with one, that shows the driving style i intend to put it through and compare it to lol. for 3 or 4 grand there a petrol car thats half sensible thats not dead
I am a RWD man through and through so, that maybe is my stumbling point.

It does confuse me as to why you are considering one if you dont like the whole reason most people would buy one

Cause for about 3k, its a petrol fun car thats reasonably fresh looking. Its jap, generally reliable, easily sold, handy to fuel, yet has a bit of power if wanted, feel nice to drive to. I dont want another turbo petrol as a daily and i dont really need a diesel

It costs me nothin to insure it, tax and MOT have to be paid on any car so, no real extra costs to have something that has a bit of go if wanted, I just dont intend to drive it like the usual stereotype owner

lol,
seriously. There not a fun car. Nice enough motor with a bit of go.... but fun ? What experience of cars have you had i am curious, quick ones ?

Some cars are too quick for the road to have fun. The E90 M3 is a good example of this.

AND,what type r ep3 that's standard is 300bhp

The reason i said that is because you said it wasnt fun and also mentioned if i had any quick cars......I put two and two together and presumed the issue you had with it was power. Needless to say why i thought you needed more to have fun

If you dont like the style of engine then fair enough you are far from alone in that one.

the style of the engine is grand for my needs, but no where near fun or special enough to have it sitting in the garage to wait for that nice sunny day were you go and take the cover off something that really makes ya grin..... Hence i sold my dc5, was a perfect daily likely but didnt fancy having 7k tied up in it, plus it was to good a car to actually use daily yet not special enough to me to want to leave it in the garage, but to a honda head it would been pure hard-on material...

True, then again, i class fun my R34 or indeed any of my powered RWD nissans or m3's, simply because they are a driving experience, a real raw feel, aggressive, be it dropping it a gear and watch the boost fill the gauge, or sidestepping a paddle clutch and steering your way up a road through gears, for giggles, or off a junction

If you're replacing a tdci mondeo with an ep3 that you intend on driving like a tdci mondeo

Then why not just stick to that as your daily.

If you have a car already that gives you the thrills and excitement that you require from motoring, then if your daily drive is boring its not such a big deal.

If you have a car already that gives you everything you need from motoring then I struggle to understand why you would try to justify the running costs of an ep3 compared to something more sensible running costs wise

I like my ep3 but would be the last person to vouch for its super car status. It's a practical hatch that handles well and is reasonably quick. I wouldn't own one if I owned something a lot more mental too.

If I could afford to buy and run an s15 with big power then I would. But I can't so I run a civic.

I never understand why people whinge at type Rs being revved to the red line.

Surely when you are driving with some "sporting intent" you redline the car anyway?

If you do so then you'll look like a joyrider and a pleb................

David_b says so.

Thats right, now were getting the right mindset ;)

the mondeo is knackered, needs replaced. And dont really actually need a diesel, i work 3 days a week, 7 miles from work, a petrol would likely be more efficient actually on that trip. Everything else is social, gym 3 times a week 10 miles each way.

What other petrols out there for 3kish ? Genuine question in case i have missed something semi sporty,

As for running costs, there not really a issue, insurance is sorted for anything i want anyway. And every car needs TAX and MOT, and at least a ep3 wont throw a dual mass fly wheel at me, or a set of injectors and there fuel pump...

So buy a petrol mondeo or something and use the money saved on trinkets for the garage queen to enhance the sense of occasion.

As i said though, something half sporty for a daily would be nice. I do love my cars, it be my main interest. May as well have something half enjoyable.

However, the thread seems to have took a fair old tangent from my OP. Got what i need to know, well, worked that out myself really or from other places tbh. :)
