Epic Drive

haha - yeah I have indeed been sleeping most of the week. Kind of weird lagged tiredness effect. I'm awful at taking photos so here are some friends FB photos....

Which is why I always chuckle when people swear blind a 1.2 Punto is 'FINE ON THE MOTARWAY'

I have done 800 miles in a weekend in a Fabia and it was very good on the motorway the suspension being boat like with ballon tyres ment a very good ride the seats were comfortable with a good stereo and cruise control with little road/engine noise at 70-90 so I don't see what the problem is. The ride was probaly better than your 530 as I remember you commenting on your girlfriend complaining about feeling the bridge sections etc on the motorway I didn't feel these in the Fabia....

Actually did Plymouth to Barrow in a Skoda Felica once, that was godawful. My ears were going to explode.

You must drive really bad examples of cars then as I've driven from one end of the country to another in a clio and a polo, both not particularly new and both managed it without breaking my ears or back and I'm 6ft 4!

I didn't actually break my ears, obviously.

All these people posting OMG I MADE IT are missing the point. Sure you can do it, and sure you can convince yourself its great, just like you can make it from one end of the country to another in a National Express coach - you just wouldnt want to unless you had no alternative.

And if you had no alternative, doubtless you'd be telling people that 'National Express isnt that bad...'

I've driven about 200 miles in 1 trip, in a 307. It was reasonably comfortable and when I got out at the end I didn't feel bad at all. The lack of cruise control was very annoying!

I have done the same trip in a Daimler Super V8, and it was MUCH better! Just wafted along the whole way.

I think smaller cars do get a bad rep for motorway driving, but they aren't TOO bad

lol - Fox would feel a pea under his mattress.
Two years ago I did a road trip to Rome (1300 miles-ish?) in 3 days in a K reg Citroen ZX 1.9 diesel and seriously I wasn't saddle sore or aching once, the ride was very comfortable.

I did many trips to uni and back, 200 miles each way, in my old civic with a buddyclub pro spec fitted to it. Not quiet in any sense of the word and i didn't mind at all :D
