I will soon be replacing a couple of external doors. Obviously I'll need to buy new door locks, and it seems like a decent idea to buy the same lock, so that one key opens both sets of doors. If possible, I would also like to replace the locks on the other two external doors so that they too can be opened with one key.

My Google Fu is failing me, what door/lock lingo do I need to use to produce results on pricing for 4 * door locks that will open with one key?

Try local ironmongery supplier, they should be supply you with a set of keyed-alike locks.

Keyed-alike! Legend!

Cheers to all, but I was just trying to figure out if what I wanted could be done, and work out roughly what I should budget so that when I spoke to my local UPVC door guy or locksmith I knew if the quote was reasonably competitive...

What you need to look at are Euro Cylinder locks at your local locksmith and ask him to key match two cylinders for you. I did that recently with two locks and it is so much more convenient having only one key.

This is the sort of thing you need to be looking at.
