Epson printer help

Hi

I need to find an epson multifunction printer (has to have a scanner) that takes generic cartridges. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

I have an RX620 that does that job. Great little printer that was mega cheap off the bay.

I have a DX4000 printer/scanner/copier and it's a little beauty. Got it cheap last year from ******. They have the DX8000 on special now. Compatiable cartridges are widely available for them.

I got the RX620.
Can get cheap alternative make cartridges if you shop around on the net.

I've an rx425, and its probably a little dated modelwise now, but still runs great...

Most epson printers you can buy can use generic cheaper cartridges anyway...

I now use a CIS kit on mine, don't need to worry about cartridges.

I looked at getting a new dx4*** like my old one, but after I bought mine all future models wouldn't accept generics.

Wrong. They just need a cartridge with a chip in them. As i said, they are widely available. I have one of the newer batch of DX4000 and mine does take third party cartridges. You need to know the manufacturing date of the printer (it's on a sticker on it) to know which set of cartridges to buy.

If yours is working you're lucky because I know loads of vendors who won't sell them anymore.
1 vendor had a success rate of 5 out of 100 :eek:

Ahh ok. It was the guy at my local shop who said that the new ones wouldn't take them. Won't be shopping there again. :rolleyes:

Do you have to mess with them replacing the chip from an original to the generic each time?

Setup and installed 3 identical units on 3 different RX620's. 100% success with them.

He was probably trying to get you to buy a new printer from him.

At our local computer fair there used to be about 10 stalls selling CISS and now theres only one because of the failure rate.
The refillable cartridges are excellent.
