Ive been using generic carts ever since ive had the printer, yesterday my magenta ran out and i was nearly low on all the others so i duly replaced them all only for the magenta not to be recognised?

Any ideas on this ive taken it in and out and tried charging the ink several times...

i really have some wort that needs printing, and i cant really run out and buy some carts as i dont have any spare money on me?

The old cart is recognised but is out of ink can i take the little chip off and put it on the one that says it isnt recognised? or would that be silly?

i dont know how these things work?

EDIT, i thought id try it as im desparate, ive changed the little green chips over and the cart is now recognised but quite predictable it says the ink has run out and i need to replace it....

Anything i can use to disable the ink detection some how?

EDIT 2 :Ive disabled ink monitoring but it still wont print

SSC works with any carts/CIS system for your printer, I use it on (Epson) large format sublimation CIS systems at work down to old 3000's, 1290's and even an ancient 760! None of them have ever seen an official epson ink cart (i must flog the ones they all came with at some point).

On a side note it's not unheard of for your cart to have a bad chip though it is rare, this is quite possibly your issue. Check the chip/pins are clean!

I thought id read some where that the app needs original eposon carts...It certainly wont read any info off my ones?

I believe one of the main reasons for this Util being created in the first place was to allow the use of compatable carts. It's always worked fine for me.

It doesn't need origional cart's but you do need to choose the correct printer in the setup section or it will throw up communication error's and i'd advise ticking the option to disable the epson monitor.

SSC was made by people who were sick and tired of being ripped off by Epson. In the same way that a growing number of users are fitting drain kit's to avoid the £70 pad replacment charge on the 1290's and £120+ for 3000's - it's probably gone up since we had sight of an Epson service agent. We've been doing counter resets on pad's for 3-4 years on one 1290 and it still didn't require a new set when I fitted an external ink drain the last month.
