I just want to have two ip cameras connected to a d-link router and virgin media modem. Can I buy a modem/router that would be better by just having one device ? I don't want to have a pc on all the time just ip camera straight to the internet.

All modern router's tend to have a modem built in,

Any of the OCUK range would suffice:

if he has fibre he'll need a v-dsl router not dsl or adsl

As he owns a modem and separate router it sounds unlikely that he has fibre.
