Equipment tracking/audit software

Hi All

Can any one recommend some software (I'm thinking PHP but flexible if it does the job!) that does the following. I just need some thing simple. A database. Nothing that goes snooping out on machines. I just need to keep tracking of mobile phones, laptops etc, their SNs, IMEIs etc, and user history.

How about Microsoft Office Access? It's a pretty neat database management system.
Otherwise i'd use PHP and MySQL but they're more for web pages.

Just use Libre Office or Open Office with Calc. It's just a spreadsheet program. They also do a database implementation but i've never used it. What distribution are you using?

I want something that I can give access to one or two other people easily. We've been using a spreadsheet in Openoffice but it's messy and a pain to update when laptops and phones get moved around users. It would be nice to just have something I can go in to quickly, choose a laptop SN or mobile's IMEI and a user and it records it's moved to that user on that date. Quick and simple

I could code this myself in PHP/MySQL but I've got enough on my plate and hoped something simple like this would exist already to save me some time.
