Disconnected my bell wire and did a speed test, I get this.

I don't understand how this happened, mostly just curious as to how it can show such a high speed at all (even if its some fluke reconnecting thing)?

It's a glitch ,try http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/

Glitches like these happen, I think it's either somethign to do with your AntiVirus program making it act like a buffer..

If you want a measure of whether what you've done makes any difference, look at the sync rate your modem reports.
The BT Speedtest won't speed up instantly (and you might not have gained enough to change IP profile anyway) and most speedtesters fluctuate enough that they're worthless.

Home Hub reports 6,432 Kbps, I know it's done something becasue I didn't used to be able to stream HD from the bbc, which it now does nicely. I don't understand why the engineer put in the bell wires though? The master socket was changed out a few months ago to the newer openreach types yet the bell wires were reconnected. Is it just standard procedure that they do this?

Your sync rates may be 6432kb but your ip profile is 3000kb which means your actual throughput will be around the 320KB/s mark.

Do a large download from microsoft or a linux iso with a download manager (multithreaded) to get your true speed. As you've only just removed your bell wire, it may take a few days to a week or so before your ip profile rises to just under your sync rate.

As mentioned above, dont trust speedtest websites as results can fluctuate.

some people see no difference at all, whereas others can gain afew extra mbps on the downstream sync.
when i removed the bell wire i gained about 300kbps on my line.

Going by the BT results I would say give it 3 days and then run the speedtest again and check your profile.

Some exchanges have the fast profile recalculate in em now some don't.

As your profile is a lot lower than your synch would suggest its either recently been unstable forcing a profile drop/recalculate or you made a large increase in synch which again will need to recalculate your line

Yeah, i took out wire 3 (bell wire), wire 4 for me was unconnected leaving 2 and 5 connected, and it didnt break my internets so must have been right

Will do, gotta bookmark it or it'll get lost in the depths of page 2+. So far no change to the hubs sync speed (6,432 Kbps), hope it keeps.

It was roughly 3.6 sync rate, with about 2.9 through put on sites like speedtest.net and bbmax. But I've had on occasion where I unplugged the home hub before and it sync'ed at over 6 but went back down to 3ish after a few hours.

It reckons your sync rate's dropped to 3776kbps down so yeah, your IP profile isn't going anywhere.

As above synch rate has now dropped, your profile will sit tight as it is.
Have you changed/moved any of the setup since last BT test?

Are you on an extension? Master Socket? Test Socket?

Those flexible extensions that you just unroll and plug in can be horrendous for speeds. You also aren't using a Extension roller thing where its like x amount of cable in a caddy you can pull to desired length are you?

It's on an extension socket; the master socket is in an absurd place so there’s no hope for any permanent solution there. Nothings coiled, it's all straight with minimal wiring. Sad that nothing really improved
