Hey guys. Trying to install VMWare Player to install a Linux emulator on my PC but I'm having a nightmare of a time. At the very end of the installation process I get a windows error message saying:

"Error 1723. There is a problem with the Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action
VM_CreateCreateVMwareAccount.7136C806_BF99_11DF_81D_9CDCDED72085, entry: VMCreateVMwareAccount, library;
C:\Windows\Installer\MSI7469"

When I click ok the install is rolled back and i get another message saying pritty much the same as above.

I'm aware it's telling me that I'm missing DLL files but I haven't got a clue why and have less of a clue as to how to get them back.

Also I went into C:\Windows to find the files but there is no Installer file, don't know if its hidden or has been deleted somehow.

So far I've tryed System Restore, ran SFC/SCANNOW from CMD and installed windows updates. I've tryed looking for a Windows Installer downlaod but it seems the latest 5.0 version for Windows 7 isn't available.

Well and truly stuck here guys, any thoughts?

I remember battling for ages with a 1723 error with a Crystal Reports service pack. In the end I had to uninstall/reinstall the whole software, not that it will help you though I imagine. Is there anything in the eventlog about the install?

Failing that give in and try VirtualBox, it can work with VMware images if you already have some images you want to try and I found it a lot nicer to use than VMware player, I don't think VMware player has snapshots either.
