last weekend i switched from a Q9550 system to a i7 920 , 6gb ddr3 one and since then i am getting restarts after pushing the cpu hard with prime , encodings etc. BUT no bsod

The previous system shutdown at 3:28:29 μμ on 10/8/2009 was unexpected.

PSU is an Enermax liberty 620W , the rest of the system consists of a 4890 , 5 HDD's and a sammy SSD. DO you think the psu cannot handle the power needs of the i7

both systems are at default settings

memory passes every test i threw at it , cpu temps are in the 80's C. They are normal afaik...it could be the mobo overheating but all is at stock...

i think too many HDD for a not so great brand PSU. definetly try plugging in your OS HDD and just try and see if you can replicate the error, if you can't then its time for a new PSU to run all of it.

^Don't you mean PSU?^

Enermax is a good brand. AFAIK they make their own PSUs unlike the latest so called good brands.

How long have you had that PSU? Could be struggling with all that no-thanks to age. Suggest you monitor Voltages using SpeedFan or motherboards own utility.

I reckon its the PSU, aging caps on it will have lost its effiency and its a bit of a spec to be powering.

Try remove all power hungry devices, remove hdd's and if possible swap graphics card for an older one and see if you get the same.

it looks like its not up to the job :(

UPDAT , it was one memory stick causing the problem (it popped an error in memtest after 5 hours...), send it back got the new one and its running 2 days now with no problem whatsoever . thanks for help anyway
