hi,

ive been getting error code 43 in device manager, i had been trying to install hackinstosh on my pc. but i fail to see how this could have affected my graphics card?

i was having some problems with installing 10.5.6, so i was going to give up. i booted back into windows 7, and when i got to the login screen, the resolution was really high. when i logged in only one of my screens worked. so i went into device manager and both of my cards (i have two 9600GT's in SLI) were showing error code 43. i tried reinstalling the drivers, but after i unistalled them in safe mode and rebooted and tried to reinstall, it sed, 'setup has detected no compatible hardware, setup will now exit. i rebooted again and tried not in safe mode, same error. i rebooted again, a and surprisingly it was at normal resolution. but when i went back into device manager it still showed one of the graphics cards with the error 43.

i have tried reinstalling again, and for some reason the cards switch in device manager, i.e the top one has the '!' in the triangle, but after a reboot the other one has it?!

do you think that it has anything to do with me trying to install os x or is it just a coincidence?

cheers

ali

EDIT: i had just copied APPLENforceATA.kext to \system\library\extentions on the disc.

Same problem!

Did you find a solution to this? I have exactly the same problem, happened about a week after I installed Windows 7 x64 and the 191.07 Nvidia drivers.

I'm running a 295 GTX, and it's like the card works (which is to say, my monitor is hooked up through it and I can see - last time I saw a card go, everything went, had to replace it to use the PC), except in device manager it isn't recognised, I have the same thing, Code 43. If I reinstall any drivers, the top one stops saying there's a problem (but still, nothing works), but when I restart, it goes back to both showing the error.

I can do pretty much anything except play games, which is a bit rough as I bought the PC mostly for gaming!

I've tried reinstalling Windows from scratch, no luck. The card is showing the green and blue lights on the back as it should, fan's working, nothing really seems amiss. It started while I was playing a game - suddenly I couldn't alt-tab, then it seemed like the game had crashed, then the whole PC locked up followed by a black screen. I thought the card had outright died, but when I turned the PC off and back on, it started up fine, but in something like 800x600 resolution.

It let me set the resolution back to 1600x1200, and like I said, everything else works fine, has for probably 3 weeks now (I realise that sounds odd, but I've not been at home enough recently to do anything about it, and since it's sort of working for most things and I need it for work use, I've had to leave it as-is temporarily). If I try to start up a game, it's like I have no graphics drivers, piles of errors. Also I have a bit of flickering if I try to watch films on here, and moving windows across the screen looks choppy, which I guess is due to software rendering.

I found a few other people reporting the same problem elsewhere, all recently, but no solid answers - one guy said he'd gotten it working again by removing all power to the motherboard for 10 minutes then starting it all back up, but as soon as he reinstalled the 191.07 drivers, same error.

Any ideas?

@Synicel

Same problem here got 2x gainward GTX295's now I got the code 43 problem with one of them. All went well for 2 days then first game I played (Crysis), game stuttered then locked then black screen and complete system hang ! On reboot Device manager was showing error 43 on both cards. I finally got one working after wiping the os partition, creating new partiton, format and reinstall win7. One card works fine, the other is a no go, drivers won't stick. Tried it in both pci-e x16 slots but no dice. Now I'm tearing my hair out

Wierd thing is on removing the card, the dodgy one was real hot, while the good card felt cool to the touch. I've read lots of reports all over the net regarding code 43, but can't get this bugger working. OCUK guys you got any ideas. This package is only a week old and only been running two days? Help Please !!!!!!!!!!

Best regards.

I'm now having the same problem with my GTX 295. Just added a watercooling block to it. I can use my computer at 1920x1080 resolution but I can't play games nor watch full-screen youtube etc... I have the blue and yellow LED lights on. Has anyone found a fix to this yet? or is it likely that my card is just dead (even though I can use my computer?).
