Just upgraded to the M7 x299 board and a 7800x.
On all reboots unless I clear CMOS Im getting a boot hang with debug code 60.
I eventually got windows installed and computer is fully stable gaming.
Something in the initialization is going wrong.
I`m using sleep function now which works fine but would like to resolve this without a workaround.
I`ve tried reseating memory and CPU and even one RAM stick at a time. unplugging all drives except for boot drive.
I have the latest bios installed
Also have used default settings all making no difference.
Im using a corsair H115i atm,
Any advice would be welcome, thanks

remove all non essential peripherals and try again. My friend had similar problem and it turn out to be his usb card reader :/
it might be one of your usb devices or smth.
if you have and m.2 or nvme drive check that as well.

when we've been researching the web for his problem many people were able to resolve this problem with swapping the ram for a different kit

Thanks Chaos
I've tried everything but just can't afford to buy new ram. My current ram is worth 500 pounds!
I'll buy new ram at Xmas at the earliest and relegate present ram for my HTPC z170 mobo.
in the meantime I'm hoping for a bios fix and it's something I can live with thanks to the cmos button. A life saver!

No unfortunately. I just gave away 32gb 3200mhz Dominator ram to a friend 6 months back. Sods law always prevails!
TBH I would love the g skill equivalent so I'll get that when I can

I have the same mobo with cpu. Do you have the windows 10 WHQL option on in the boot menu? Cause i had the same problem and after i turned off that option it would boot normal. I Also found that the fast boot option is not really stable. Otherwise look if there are any cpu pins are bend on the socket. Here is a link for beta bios for all msi x299 mobos. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=289634.0

Wow. I never would have guessed it!
I'll turn off windows 10 option when I get home.
Thanks for the tip on leaving the fast boot option off.
I've already checked the pins. They are perfect.
In the meantime I've ordered 4 x 4gb 3600 mhz dominator ram as well.

YOU ARE A GENIUS!...How much do I owe you???
Man youve saved me a ton of headache. Problem has totally gone. Ive rebooted 3 times using restart and all is stella!
Just goes to show the bios is flaky...
Honestly PM if you need anything. I have possibly some spare parts from a z97 buiild if you need them.
Thank God for people like you!

o man i don't need anything mate just glad i could help :D i was banging my head against the wall myself over this, my problem was that i have M.2 in Raid 0 i just wont boot with Windows 10 WHQL on. If i have ACHI then it will. But aside from that its a great fast mobo and a great overclocker.

I'm thinking it must be a raid issue as I also have two ssds in raid 0 but not m.2.
I had pretty much given up with so ure my saviour here.
I agree the board is solid although my boot up time is about 25 seconds.
Ive also noticed I'm getting better framerates and Less frame dips in rainbow six seige and battlefield 1.
msi has been my vendor of choice since z97 with better reliability than gigabyte and better support than Asus.

Yeah must be the raid thing but ive tried AHCI with msi fast boot and there is not really any difference in boot up times so im geussing there some tweaking needed from the bios. And i always been a Asus fan boy but their support is awefull, and my last mobo was a z170 gaming 7 from gigabyte and it broke down twice and had lag in the bios. Im glad with msi so far and as you can see they bring out a new bios every 2 weeks so maybe they fix it :)

That's a nice cooperation guys. :) my question is what really changes when you disable whql. Is it a problem with the drivers for Windows?

Nah its just for a windows 10 full eufi install and boot, it supposedly bypasses drivers and boots from bios directly and shoul dhave faster boot times but its not working with raid mode. I think its a bug in the bios on this motherboard cause i have tested it without raid and its not really faster with booting.

Just tried new bios. Sadly no change with whql windows 10 enabled.
However got a nice 1.2v/4.5 ghz OC. Done a few rounds of rainbow six. A full round in battelfied 1 and a few runs of Intel burn test. Solid.
Msi are asking for update with sent bios and full hardware and bios details which I will duly provide.
Really hoping they come up with a fix. At least they are pro-active. Take heed Asus!

Cool! i also hope they fix it cause you get a cool logo when booting windows with the WHQL option :p I also tried the new beta bios and the system feels a lot snappier. Got a 4.6 ghz on a 1.25 voltage with a -1 avx offset i can get it to 4.7 with 1.275 voltage but it gets really hot :( But yeah if you look at how many bioses they released in the last few weeks....really nice. BTW how do you contact them? maybe if i told them the same problem they can get more info on it

I registered my motherboard with msi for which you have to create an account. They have a support section on which you can ask questions. Pretty good at responding.
