Ive got a pretty decent PC, gpu is an XFX 7950 DD Black 3gb.

Playing BF3, i keep getting an error message pop up, not my pic, but same message. Does it more after ive alt tabbed a few times.

Now i cant believe im actually running out of memory. Seems like this could be an actual Windows fault, as a fair few sites about it. But just the average stuff.

Wondering if theres anything i can do ? A Basic theme is pretty harsh, i do like the Aero colour for taskbar and windows etc.

for me i'd turn off all the fancy bits in windows as it only makes it look better but does take power away from the overall system.

right click on my computer, select properties left click, left click advance system settings, left click performance settings, left click adjust for best performance, apply ok.

yes basic don't look too hot, but if it stopped me gaming, it's gone :)

job done, no more errors

Well it doesnt stop me playing, it only pops up when i alt tab out, and doesnt seem to impact gaming performance. FPS stays around the normal average.

I dont think its really out of memory, i dont see how it can be. From what ive read, 3gb vram is plenty.
Its more annoying than anything, that ive spent over about £1700 on a pc (inc OS, Mon, everything) and i get this stupid message.

This is my first time using 7, what exactly is Aero, i know its the theme, but can parts of it be disabled ? All i really want to keep is window and taskbar colour.

Thanks for the reply.

Edit - Just ran GPU Z whilst gaming, using 1267mb dedicated max, 286mb dynamic max

Right click the BF3 exe and go to properties, then under the compatibility tab, tick "Disable Desktop Composition". This will auto turn off Aero when you run the game, and turn it back on when you close it. It's a BF3 problem to be honest... No idea how BF3 is causing Windows to bring up that message.

BF3 launches through the web browser / battlelog interface ? There is no exe for it that i use ?

Few friends get the same message. Guess at least i know its a bug, and nothing actually running out of mem.

Yes it launches through the browser, but the game is still installed on your PC.

Click Start, then Computer, then the C: drive (assuming you installed it on this drive). Then go under Program Files. I'm not sure where BF3 is installed since I don't have the game, but it may be under the Origin folder, or you could just do a search for bf3.exe with the Windows Explorer search option.

What's the full spec of your pc? If you only have 4gb of system ram its possible that you are running out of Ram, as windows shadows you graphics ram to system ram!

Sorry was on mobile and I have Sig's turned off ;) Do you have Page file turned off? or is it left as System Managed?

Right click - Personalization
I have 2 saved themes
Aero and Basic
Aero = 116mb vram used (performance message warning in some games)
Basic = 56mb vram used (no warning message)
I believe in basic there might also be between 0-1fps increase i think i read somewhere but can't confirm but i do it for the vram even on a 1.5gb 580 skyrim modded loves the ram

Page file is default.

Its no biggie, now that i know its not running out of ram. Usage whilst in game doesnt even reach half!

Its got to be something with Windows, and what it thinks is running low. The game plays the same regardless. Havent had the message today so far.

Ignore it. I used to get this with my 5870 back in the day. However havent experienced this with my 670... touch wood!
