Hello Peeps,

Not been on for a while, not since my P8 Z68-V overclocked to 4.6ghz with 8gig ram didnt work out of the box cos the OC settings were not right. Anyway that was fixed through the forum and I have been pretty trouble free for 18 ish months now.

I couldnt find any threads relating to my current problem, probably cos I am an infrequent forum surfer/noob.

My problem is that the PC on boot has now started telling me "The data in the EC or EC flash might be corrupted. Please contact ASUS Technical Support for help. System will shut down after 15 seconds."

I have reset the cmos which solves the problem, if I am lucky for a couple of boots.

Please help me solve this issue, I can of course phone ASUS but thought I would come back to the OC forum first!

Thanks

Just booted up a sec ago and got a a message saying that the OC had failed, press f1 to configure.

PC was in a state of perminant boot with nothing onscreen after loading the OC settings again. Been fine for 18 ish months till now???

Hi wazza, no, I am still on the original BIOS, not had a reason to change really.
I have done the cmos a few time now but I get the same problem on a fresh reboot.

you need to flash to the latest bios,it will improve a lot of things, regarding stability

just download and put the bios file (once extracted) onto the usb memory stick then boot into bios and press f8 I think for ezflash and update the bios

then see if it keeps doing it

k, updated to latest bios, boots fine on default settings at the moment, however I just put the OC settings back in, clicked "save and reset" but the computer will not shutdown/reset???

Ok, shutdown holding the power button in and it turned off, I rebooted and am now back at the EC flash error again!

Hi anthony, yes I did remove the battery. I have performed a couple more cmos resets and it seems now that it wont get to windows at all now, just keep getting the EC flash error or get told to go into bios to do settings, but upon exit and reset it goes back to error.

Thats right, all settings were default after cmos clear and later when I updated bios to most recent. The computer was booting to windows on default settings but that has stopped happening now aswell. I have entered the original OC and that does not work either. The computer will at times, not actually reset on exit of bios, but instead just hangs with no image onscreen.
