Error upon Boot - services.exe

The system process 'C:\\WINNT\system32\services.exe' terminated unexpectedly
with status code 128. The system will now shut down and restart.

I get this everytime i try to boot up XP :/

Safe mode does not work as soon as i log in the PC reboots.

It's magically worked now, but is there any solution to this?

You have a Windows 200 system or a system that was upgraded from 2000?

Have you tried using your XP disc to repair the installation?

The C:\WINNT in the error sugggested it may be a Win2000 problem as that was the default install location for Windows 2000, XP uses C:\WINDOWS usually.
