Right... received parts for new build today.

i7 860, asus p7p55d, samsung 1tb F3.... etc

Put it all together, and installed windows 7 RC.

I'm just using the one hard drive... so during installation I thought I created a partition for the OS...

I set aside 120GB, windows then created a 100MB partition (that i couldn't install on), a 117.XX GB partition (which i selected to install windows on) and an 800something GB partition.

So, installation went fine, I'm now running windows 7, all looks pretty BUT... wheres my storage partition!

If I go to my computer it shows just one drive (C: ) with 117GB of space, nothing else!

HELP!!!

Stu

I can't tell you how, but you can still create a partition with the rest of the space that didn't work for some reason. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be able to tell you how; I'm just her to tell you not to panic! :P

Have you created a partition in the extra space and assigned it a drive letter? In the Computer Management tool, under Disk Management, you can manage the partitioning of your disks (in Vista anyway, imagine it's similar in Win7).

Exactly the same in Win 7 yes, and precisely what I'd recommend the OP to check!

Click Start, Right click 'Computer' and then 'Manage'
Check Disk Management on the left hand side...

hope this is helpfull to you, you could try right click my computer/manage storage at the left hand panel and finally disk management, but seeing as its windows 7 i have no idea if its changed since vista, if the options are there it could just be a case of getting windows to use them, im sure someone will be able to add more to it than i can but i remember having to do something like this

Ah, looks promising. I've got disk management open.

Tells me i have:

100MB NTSF - Healthy (system, Active, Primary Partition)
117.09GB NTSF - Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)
814.33GB - Unallocated

Oops!

I can right click on the unallocated space and create a 'simple volume', brings up a wizard.

I shall proceed with this:) Cheers Paul. *EDIT* and everyone else! Thanks!

Thanks! Although I now have another silly problem! Downloaded the Windows 7 RC a couple of months ago and only installed it last night... I downloaded the 32 bit version... grr! Ah well, will have to wait til the full release.
