How much different is an ES E6300 to a normal one?

Currently running an E4300 in a P5N-E SLI but cant get any sort of stable overclock, including 1066FSB for 2.4Ghz

If i stick a native 1066FSB chip in it, like the E6300 ES, will i have the same problems?

How good clockers are the engineering sample CPUs?

Is there any benefit to upping the multiplier instead of the FSB?

Good question, apart from having a fully adjustable divider I thought they were the same?

I suppose having a dvider that can be adjusted upwards makes it easier to find the maximum CPU overclock.

Thats what im thinking butthe main worry is that the E6300 is 1066FSb default, but my E4300 at 1066FSB makes the system unstable

Just beacause its an ES does not always mean its a better overclocker.

The problem with ES chips is that intel technically own them they cannot be sold at auction and here on MM.

I doubt you will get higher than 3.6ghz

So I would just get a 6320 with the 4mb cache.

My ES E6400 has nothing different from the standard E6400 i.e nothing unlocked etc.. Also it dosen't oc any better or worse than most average E6400s. Also ES cpus are a gen of silicon that might still contain some whooping errata that might not be as unnoticable as in retail silicon, also don't know where peeps got the idea ES oc better, since its more or less early yields it won't be as mature or tweaked as later ones and likely clock less.
