I've been reading a bit about eSATA and wondered if anyone here is using it. I've got a couple of SATA disks that I could use but I can't seem to find many enclosures. Thecus have a nice enclosure but it only supports RAID and I'm not interested in using that. Does anyone know what's out at the moment?

Didn't see the point in making a thread if one has previously been made that asks the same question I'd like answering.

I'm considering my data backup options and would like an external drive, using an enclosure would be ideal so I can use a Seagate 7200.10 drive. The only eSATA enclosure I can find it the ST-M10 Serial ATA II Enclosure, this only seems to have eSATA but USB2.0 would be nice aswell (to move to friends PCs or my laptop) - currently my motherboard has an eSATA port so I wouldn't need a PCI card.

Are there any other eSATA enclosures available in the UK? Doesn't seem OcUK stock any - I'm not asking to link to competitors, just name an enclosure :)

You can get eSATA => SATA cables. I bought an Icy Box SATA enclosure a while back then added the cable for hooking up to the Asus motherboard. Works aok.

But my motherboard has an eSATA port on the IO plate and getting an eSATA/USB2.0 enclosure would allow a simple eSATA -> eSATA connection. I'd ideally like an eSATA connection as it's designed for external SATA aswell, just seems more appropriate.
