I'm looking to back up my volumes via an esata device but i have a concern.
Obviously ESATA runs off a controller which can set the host to either enhanced IDE, RAID or AHCI.
I'm looking to back up some data then make a fresh install on a new motherboard.
Firstly, will there be any issues transferring to a volume via esata between two different chipsets?
Secondly, Will I need to make sure when the transfer is made, do i need to make sure the controller settings are the same? For example, if I connect the device to contoller set to AHCI, do i need to make sure when i connect it to a controller on a new motherboard, that has to be set to AHCI as well, or is it plug and play like with USB?
