eSATA problem?

Just taken delivery of the Akasa DuoDock 2 which can house 2 drives.

Put in 2 fresh 2TB drives, connected up the eSATA and... nothing.

Doesn't show up in the explorer, nor disk manager.

Reseat the hard drives and power up again.

One of the drives shows up, so I go to format it, and it disconnects.

Take out eSATA connection and plug it in via USB, power up and bam, both hard drives show.
Formatting one of them at the moment and no problems.

What's wrong?

TL;DR: USB connection works fine, eSATA doesn't. What's wrong?

This probably won't help much, but I've had no success with a couple of akasa enclosures and esata in the past.

I have the plan DuoDock working great via eSATA. However, eSATA can be problematic on some motherboards. The first thing you should try is enabling any SATA controllers you've disabled (Marvell, for example) - on my motherboard the eSATA and IDE ports are Marvell whereas the 6 SATA ports are Intel.

If that doesn't work (it didn't for me, this board is notorious for having a useless eSATA port), you can get a PCI bracket thingy to convert one (or more) of your SATA ports to eSATA.

SATA controllers are enabled, but the IDE controller is disabled. If it's disabled then there's no way it should pop up even for a little bit?

I'll check it after these drives have formatted though.
