Essential Nintendo DS Games?

What in your opinion would you say are essential DS games or games for the DS that you would highly recommend?

I got one for Christmas with New Super Mario Bros which I thought was most excellent and would highly recommend it! Also have Brain training and Mario Kart both of which I really like and Simpsons which seems pants! :D

My favourite DS game is Yoshi's Touch and Go - it still makes the best use of touch screen i've seen on the DS. Not for everyone, but a must if you're into score chasers.

Otherwise, there's a shed load of great DS games. Advance Wars if you like strategy, Chrono Trigger/Zelda if you're into rpgs, Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents if you like rhythm action. I could name a load more - what sort of stuff are you into?

I like a lot of games really but I seem to be more into platform games like Mario and that sort of thing any recommendations like that would be great! I just looked up Yoshi's Touch and Go and that looks like it might be up my street.

I saw the Prince of Persia game the other day that looked like it could have been interesting. Anyone played that? :)

Did you play Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island first time round? If not, definately pick up the GBA versions - 2d platforming doesn't get better. I'd also pick up Super Mario Bros. 3 and Zelda: Minish Cap on the GBA (way too many people neglect great GBA games on the DS, and they're cheap as chips!).

Going back to the DS, Kirby: Canvas Curse/Magic Paintbrush is a great combination of platformer and Yoshi's Touch and Go, and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is a sweet platform/action game.

If your into platform games, then I would definately recommend the 3 Castlevania games that are out for the system;

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
Castlecania: Order of Ecclesia (Latest one just released)

If you already haven't played or own it for the Nintendo 64, how about Mario 64 DS? Same game but with some new features, touch control being the most obvious.

Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure are also great platform games. And its fun trying to play it as it uses both screens for upper and lower levels of the stages.

If you want to try some other gametypes that show off what the little DS is capable off, Metroid Prime: Hunters is a great example of how an FPS works. Course, you will get major finger and hand cramps for playing too long.

There is an article on IGN listening there top 25 games somewhere ill try find it for you

Bangai-O Spirits. I found it utterly incomprehensible for the first hour or so, and regretted buying it. But then suddenly it started clicking. At which point I decided it's fantastic fun! It also has the best box in the world - gives you absolutely no idea what to expect from the game, and not even a screenshot...

Oh heres another,

Maple Story DS.

The wonderful free MMORPG that will have a non-MMO, but Action-RPG DS version! Now if it will ever get released!

For anyone that's a fan of Advance Wars, EndWar is a really good game too. Almost a rip-off in its similarity, but no bad thing because of it.
