So in the next month or so the new Xbox one should be released, I decided that I would finally cave in and get one.
I am trying to compile a list of games to buy with it.

Gears of War 4 is a definite
Forza horizons 3, is this series good ? I haven't played the other 2 but they seem to be quite "Burnoutty" without the speed,
I'm not a huge football fan so am probably going to end up getting the fifa bundle and selling the game to be honest

what have I missed in the 2 years its been out that I really should go back and get ?
I play a few genres, FPS/racing/strategy/rpg
Currently still enjoying Civ rev on the 360 although it has gotten a little boring given that there isn't much you can do differently.
I don't even mind a decent platform to be honest.

One thing perhaps to bear in mind is that although I did enjoy GTA5 and FFXIII I don't have as much free time to play as I used to now that I am a family man.

Forza Horizon 2 is a must IMO, you can pick it up for a good price now as well.

I would also say Halo 5, the best Multiplayer in years, and very well supported.

Exclusive wise, the only ones i'm waiting for are Dead Rising 4 and State of Decay 2. Both zombie games.

Not great really.

Gears of War 4..... not sure how many times they can keep milking this one. Never even played the 3rd one.

GTA V of course. I'm just getting into Destiny too. Oh sorry I just noticed you mentioned GTA V but still worth getting on xbox1. Rise of Tomb raider is excellent too.

Forza Horizon is a great series if you like arcade racing. It's probably one of the best games of it's type on any platform.

I was in a similar boat (young child, less time to play) and it is the sort of game you can play in short bursts if needed, doing a couple of races. Plus you can even let young kids have a go (hooning around in freeroam).

I've never been a huge halo fan if I'm honest I just couldn't get on with the way it feels/plays. I was playing some version of halo 2 nights ago on the 360 and I ended up deleting it.
COD feels much better IMO, but I've heard a lot of bad press off people about the direction COD is heading (that and the fact they are milking the franchise to death by having yearly releases)
I'll put forza horizon 2 on the list then (maybe even forza 6).
I read a thread on OCUK a few days ago about the gold games next month, they are looking really good so that will certainly give me quote a bit of gaming hours.
Also just fired up crysis 3 last night on the 360(never played 1 or 2) and ive got to say I am enjoying it.
what benefit does the xbox one version of GTA V have over the 360 version ? if its just graphics I won't bother.

I get what you are saying about GOW as well, I own the first 2, never owned the 3rd and I can't say I've played them much but I saw a video of GOW 4 and it looks absolutely phenomenal. And Its probably a good chance to get into something online with everybody on my friends list as I likely won't have many more new games

Is dead rising that good ? I borrowed the first one off my uncle way back and got bored quite quickly, maybe I just didn't give it chance ?

I think it's fair to say if a game hasn't captured me in the first 20/30 minutes I'm unlikely to play it.
example, beyond good and evil was free this month, spoke to my mate who says its apparently a very good game, I turned it off after 15 minutes.

Halo 5 is very different to Halo 2, a comparison against a game 12 years old isn't really worth much! Maybe watch some streams or videos to get a feel for the difference, it can also be picked up pretty cheap.

Destiny is something you could sink hours into, despite the initial flack and some issues with narrative, it's actually a lot of content and a "complete" edition with all DLC is about to be released in readiness for Sept expansion so a good time to jump in.

I think Forza 6 is more of a sim then arcade, so Horizon is likely the better choice; though I could be wrong!

15-20mins isnt much time, but I am sort of similar, though give it an hour or two.

After just finishing Deus Ex Manking Divided, I highly recommend that.

I appreciate 15 - 20 minutes isn't usually long enough but it was just "faffing" around too much.
It wasn't Halo 2 I was playing I said Halo 2 nights ago, meaning some version of halo, 2 nights ago. :D

Getting my first xbox one sept 22nd, remember playing the first dead rising on 360 and found the controls fiddly and quite tough to play so gave up on it.

Have they improved the controls in the later series. Might be another game I try again along with horizons 3 which Im looking forward to playing.

Right looks like its a done deal now.
just ordered an original shape console brand new with kinect and some bundled games for £183.95
Should be able to sell the kinect and games for £50 hopefully.

Then I've also bagged the following
Halo MCC (DD) £5.55
Forza Horizon 2 (DD) - 19.99
Titanfall (DD) - 8.99

Doom - £19.95
Sunset Overdrive - £5.50

GOW 4 (Pre-order) - £39.50
Final fantasy XV (Pre Order) - £36.95

Am also in negotiation for rise of the tomb raider 2nd hand.
That little lot should keep me going for a while :)

I'd get Destiny as well, gets some flack but it's a great game.

i've been looking at this actually
was in town earlier and game had it for 7.99 pre-owned, although there was a sticker on the box warning that the content had been used already, what exactly would I be missing out on if I bought it used ?
I would prefer to have a download, but was struggling to find a download anywhere, even the MS store doesn't have it (although is available for the 360 weirdly)

I'd also get EA Access for £20 a year, has some great games in the vault and is great value.

how does that work then exactly, any games in the vault are free to play whilst I am signed y to ea access, or can I donwload them and play even when access has expired ?

What else do you actually get for your money ?

Sounds like a sweet little bundle op.
I'd recommended playing Tomb Raider Definitive Edition first before Rise of the Tomb Raider, for better character progression.
Also consider Quantum Break, has a cool story.
And perhaps Bioshock Collectors Edition.
Kerbal Space Program?

EA access is subscription, £20 a year gets your a huge amount of games and you also get trials of brand new EA games, about 10 hours.

You will lose access if your sub expires.

List with a few exceptions:

EA games in The Vault now include Battlefield Hardline, EA SPORTS UFC, Battlefield 4, FIFA 16, Dead Space, Madden NFL 16, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR, NHL15, Titanfall, Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, Need for Speed Rivals, NBA LIVE 15, Peggle 2, FIFA 14, and Madden NFL 14.
