ESXI 5 and timestamp on network packet

Anyone aware if a virtual server will modify a network packet. SO when a server sends a network packet thru virtual switch then onto the network - would the virtual switch modify the time stamp on the packets

Unless my brain is fried and I've forgotten the make up of an header there is no timestamp on either IP packets or Ethernet frames. Is there an issue that you are seeing that you are trying to diagnose? If the data portion has a timestamp the virtual switch should not, and is probably incapable of changing it.
