Something else to think about - Normal music cd cases (the cheap sort that break easily and are the same material as ps1 and dreamcast game boxes) cost 1 US cent for 8 to manufacture!
Selling 30m of cat5 cable for even £10 is a serious mark-up on the manufacture cost. A standard high-street shop will charge £1 a metre because they can.

meh i tooked a cat5 cable down the edge of the carpet along the stairs via an old plastic telephone skirtin thingy and then did a whole in the wall just before the door to the room it goes into.
you wouldnt even know there was a cable unless you looked for it
