Ethernet cable or cat5 cable?

I currently use Ethernet cable but I find that it is too long and so I was browsing a few hardware websites and saw that I can buy cat5 cabling which is 30" in length which is ideal for me.
The Ethernet cable I am currently using is 2 metres in length!

Which is the best quality cabling, Ethernet or cat5 or are they both the same?

I will buy the cat5 cabling then as it's a lot shorter and will enable me to get rid of the excess cabling.

At the moment I have the Ethernet cable dangling across the floor and it's a mess

I was just wondering if one was better quality than the other like for example better shielding but, apparently, these are just different names for the same item.

your ethernet cable more than likely is cat5 or mabe cat5e the only difference is length

cat5e has been the standard for a long time, can't remember the last time I saw regular cat5.

Yes shorter is neater

I just checked and it is cat5e not cat5
