I am going to try my best to help. I study networking so maybe I can help.

Now, I need to understand a few things; is this wireless or connected? When you say Ethernet I am assuming you mean a physical cable that goes from your computer into the modem; is this correct?

Also I am not sure what you mean by the ethernet doesn't have a valid ip configuration; can you explain that a little more?

You don't sell your PC just because you can't get a valid IP address. You need to explain more about your current network setup.

Have you reset your router?
Tried a new cable?
Reset your network adaptors?

Is there anything else you have tried?

Tell us about your network setup.

If you're using Powerline adaptors, that's why you're getting this issue. Either use wireless or run a cable from your PC to the router.

It's the standard message you'll receive if the computer can't see a DHCP server and ends up with an autoconfigured IP (169.254.n.n).

OP needs to fix the connectivity issue (presumably Powerline adapters not connecting).

This really, would also be worth validating that you or someone hasn't put in a static IP.

Either way seems a bit extreme to be saying you're going to sell your PC because of a networking issue. Network issues happen all the time when hardware has a bit of a hiccup, it's just one of those things of owning PC hardware.
