Figured this would be the best place to post this.

I'm after an ethernet hub/splitter to avoid running multiple cables through the house.

I currently have one cable going up into my bedroom however ideally I need 4.

Currently has Ps3 and xbox which I just switch the current cable between, however will soon be adding a Panny GT50 and a desktop.

Is there something suitable for this that wont kill my connection?

In a home environment, all switches perform the same (more or less)

If you transfer data between the devices, I'd get a gigabit switch. Especially if you have a gigabit router already.

If you had this 5 port gigabit switch for example...

You'd connect one port up to your router, so then you can add 4 devices to the switch. You just plug them in and they'll all work fine.

The router does all the work for dishing out IP addresses etc

They all work at the same time, you won't notice a difference in speed.

Obviously, the maximum speed they'll have is your connection speed. The router will just send data if/when a computer asks for it.

All devices connected to the switch can communicate at the same time. So if you have your desktop, console and router connected to it then both the desktop and console will be able to talk to the router at the same time.
