ethernet switch - can you use more than one computer at a time

Chances are you have plugged your modem (virgin or something?) into that. You'll need a router with an Ethernet WAN port, not jus ta switch

As above, you need a router for multiple computers to share broadband. You could have a switch connected into a router though, if you needed more connections.
 
aaah. i bought a switch to go before the router because the router (d-link dir 615 DDWRT) spazzes out sometimes. So i thought il connect my wired stuff to the switch and one to the router for wireless.

thats a no go is it?
 
The router has 4 ports on the back marked LAN you plug them into those. The pc or switch goes into them. The only think ever plugged into WAN is the modem.

i know this. read my post above.

so i can have as many switches after the router but not before. ok i get it now.
