Europa Universalis 5

even though I loved 4 there is no way in hell I'm buying this even in the first few months of release. This thing of releasing a shell of a game then filling it with over priced dlc is grinding my gears.

Now they have likely stopped developing for EU4 I can finally start a game of that :D. I've owned EU4 for years and years, and bought pretty much every DLC in dribs and drabs when they've come on at least 50% sale, but I've never actually played the game. Maybe its because I got in to EU3 just when they released the final complete version with all its dlc so it was a complete game from the start, but then became wise to the Paradox DLC model of dripping out dlc and how updates to all their games usually drastically changed things, that I knew I would likely wait until EU4 was fully done before starting a game. It is the way of things.

EU4 is one of my favourite PDX games, so I'll almost certainly end up pre-ordering this one, and then not play it for 2 years until they've put out numerous DLC's to add some content to the bare bones game that it was on release.

Will be interesting to see what they do with war mechanics on this one though.

Only just really got into EU IV and it'sa really hooked me so I can see myself looking into getting into EU V as well. Got Stellaris + Imperator Rome to work through as well

I've never played the series, but then again I've not played Victoria or hearts of iron either. Stellaris is enough for me. I like the sci-fi setting.

From memory they all have a slightly different focus.

I’ve invested. I’ve had a very quick look and I like! There’s a few performance issues for me (on a laptop) but it’s a thing of beauty. I’m sure the driver will help with that. The map is gorgeous and there are dynamic effects that I love.

It’s going to take a long time to even understand how it all fits together. It’s enormous and typically deep. But my biggest fear appears to have been addressed. From all accounts the base game offers an enormous amount of content. Reviews are very positive generally, so I look forward to sinking my life into this…

I think EUIV is one of my most played games (probably comes in second to the amount of hours put into EVE Online), so this is a definite purchase for me.
Though, I think I'll wait until either the end of November or Christmas time to pick it up, that way I'll have a bit of time off work and I can play some massive sessions.
