Looking to solo travel abit more of Europe at the end of September early October first lets get out the way where I have been to already:-

Czech Republic - Prague
Germany - Stuttgart, Cologne
France - Paris
Romania - Bucharest
Portugal - Algarve
Spain - Menorca
Ireland - Dublin
Austria - Vienna
Turkey (totally forgot long time ago as I was a kid)

Looking to base myself somewhere to start and travel via train or stay in one country and travel around I am open to ideas although Italy and Croatia are edging high up on my list at the moment.

train to italy can take route along med coast or through alps so you could go one way and come back another

Not sure if I'm being crude, but actually, I think your age is pretty important for getting better recommendations.

Just travelled up the adriatic sea last month. Had a blast! But I was partying every night.

Switzerland is one of my favorite countries in Europe, always worth a visit. Most of Italy is stunning too, avoid Milan and Pisa IMO, Florence is nice as is Rome and Venice. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Copenhagen is one of my favorite cities in the world, not sure what there is to do there but it's just a nice place to visit for a day. Berlin is surprisingly a really nice place to visit, full of history and some great fun places too.

I personally avoid Spain if I can, but I do hear Barcelona is nice.

If you're going to Germany then I would recommend the Black Forest. I was staying in Durbach for business and it was beautiful and very close to Strasbourg for the crossover to France.

Just came back from switzerland possibly the most beautiful country I have been to especially in Europe including Italy, France, Greece, Norway etc etc
Very expensive however but if I had to choose one place I would probably go to Interlaken in Switzerland
We went for 8 days and did Geneva, Interlaken, Luzern and Zurich trains in between all these cities and it was relatively painless and quite easy

Will do this next year I think!

Couple of pictures I took all in interlaken (albeit slightly filtered :p)
Water one was on the public boat they do on the lake to Brienz and back
The snowy one was from Jungfrau which is around 3500m height iirc and you can get a train to the top and the bottom although not cheap at around £200 pp

What was the damage for the trip?

Are you getting a 10 day rail pass? Always wanted to do this myself.. look forward to seeing how you get on.

Was not planning to but could be an option I guess.

Switzerland does look great for the scenic views probably one for the future thanks for the information though everyone

I think I am going to do Italy Florence, Lake Como, Amalfi coast what the weather like in Italy end of september?

550ish for 3 adults flights LHR to Geneva and Zurich to LHR, around £450 a piece for each of the 2 day hotels and £250 for the 1 day hotel in Luzern (yes :( and they were not particularly fancy either) and then food etc was call it £140 a day + trips you do (Jungfrau was £600 ish)

So around 3.5-4k for my parents and myself - not cheap

I would strongly recommend Venice it was fantastic when I went :)
Not sure about weather at that time I went in August a few years ago and it was very hot

Great time to go. Did a wedding on Amalfi coast on October 1st and it was great.

Went to Florence in November too, needed a light coat but wasn't too cold, like England really.
