I thought the same but it's impossible to prove either way, also when West Ham beat Man United to stay up that season and then signed Tevez from them struck me as dodgy.
According to some Danish paper, it was the Liverpool - Debrecen CL match. Supposedly their keeper was paid to let in 3+ goals. The game ended 1-0.
edit: Supposedly the keeper in question had already been banned for match-fixing too.
I like the attitude that corruption in football is clearly something that never happens in English football.
What gentlemens we are, we probably caught wind of it and decided not to score 3, should be rewarded with a CL spot to be honest
