Euros - how much and where from

Indeed. Can't remember the rates but my Clarity Card gave me the Mastercard rate which at the moment is around £1 : €1.246.

No charges for POS use however very small interest charges on cash advances. (However the interesting thing is if you pay the statement off as soon as possible, and if you've spent at least £300 then they give you a fiver, which in most of my cases counteracted any interested incurred).

Get a Travelex card and load Euros onto it. No charges for using in ATMs abroad and the rates are always very good.

The rates are not always very good at all, infact they are typically comparatively poor.

Right now you'll get 1.2180 Euros per pound on a Travelex card even though the current spot rate is 1.24286 and the current Visa/Mastercard base rate (Which you'd get with a decent credit card) is very close to that. The Travelex rate is barely any better than the high street.

As an emergency last minute 'argghghg' it's probably the last bad method but I really don't agree you can call its rates 'always very good' :)

I'll second ICE, I used the Waterloo branch, it's good rates and top service.

Also consider debit cards from Nationwide or Metrobank for withdrawals overseas.

I've used my clarity card over the last 4 trips away, always get an excellent rate and if you can send the money to it quickly the interest will be pence

Just go for whatever is more convenient.

I had a friend who was changing a few Euros and found the best price using moneysavingexpert. They went all the way to London to change up a few hundred.

I had to show her how it would have been cheaper and more convenient for her to just go to Tesco. No 8 quid tube fare and no hour trip into London
