Eurovision Thread

Had a quick look at the most recent replies to this thread and couldn't see anyone make this point so thought it worth mentioning/asking;

Why do we enter as the United Kingdom & Ireland? Why not have England, Scotland and Wales have their own separate entries. It might help to level the playing field a bit as we could all vote for eachother then.
 
Have to agree, absolutley CRAP song won!


BTW, Ukraine; I've listened to Ani Lorak for the past 2-3 years due to her attractiveness :D. Hopefully will go back to my "home country" and pick a beautiful girl up (easier to find attractive girls than in the UK and just generally sexier! ):cool:)

Well Ireland is a completely separate country to the UK so it will always have its own entry.
As for the UK splitting up while we might get a few extra points, we have enough problems finding a half decent song to enter as it is, splitting up would mean 3 appalling entries instead of 1 rubbish one. :p

I wonder how long Terry will do the show for now, he sounded a little fed up at the end of tonights show.

I think Western Europe should pull out on funding. We get no respect whatsoever. The winners will stay in Eastern Europe, its a never ending spiral. It will take an orgasmic song to make the UK win, and I doubt there is such a thing!
 
I only watch it for Sir Terry Wogan's ascerbic wit, though I'll admit I was firmly supporting Latvia tonight. For one reason only - Pirates! :D
 
I don’t really get why Terry and everyone else cares so much that its fixed. Its just a laugh, and everyone knows it’s a popularity contest. The UK has nothing to prove in regards to its international appeal on the music scene. You can’t really blame the organisers being that it’s a telephone vote done by the public, and at the end of the day, it’s the countries with the rigged voting that it reflexes badly on.

People should just enjoy it for the amusing television.
 
I care because we end up ploughing money into the sodding thing. :(

We should let the Eastern Europe countries participate on their own, I doubt it'd last 3 years. Instead we waste our time so they can all give each other a pat on the back.

Also, it's meant to be a *song* contest. If it stops being that then it shouldn't exist.
