I bought a few (6) .eu's from godaddy, but they are still showing up as being "free"

WTF is going on.

The land rush phase (when anyone can register them) for .eu domains doesn't start until 7th April. I haven't been keeping up to date with the .eu domain extension, but I presume this means GoDaddy can't attempt to register your domains until that date, and even then there's the possibility that another registrar gets there before them.

Edit: Ignore me, apparently it's the 7th April today.

There were 40,000 applications on the first day of the sunrise phase, and EURid received 702,684 applications within the first few hours of today. I imagine it will take them some time to sort through everything

registered 1 eu name with godaddy and was registered with the whois in minutes - i have a feeling .eu will be a another .biz doom tbh.

im partially hoping they proove me wrong, as that will make my 300 .co.uk's more valuable, however i'd love to see all those dedicated cybersquatters who have spent thousands registering silly trademarks like "s&e&x" to have wasted their time and money!

A domain name expert I'm not, but I doubt the .eu extension will go the way of .biz and .info. It's priced in the right area (not dirt cheap like .info domains are), it sounds nice (If I were the CEO of a big European company I would have no issues telling the world my domain was www.companyname.eu) and it's a geographical extension so it carries an element of patriotism.

Besides, .biz sounded too "super hyper global mega net" - ish for my liking
