You underestimate the stupidity of people.
My mum had a flat recently and the RAC guy who came out to change the tyre mentioned that he had only done emergency charges that day for EVs where people had run out.
It was unusual for him to do that many in a day but he reckoned he does between 20 and 40% of his time doing them.
He had nothing against EVs, just the idiots who ignore the frequent warnings and think they can roll it home.
Probably the same people who run their phone down to empty

I thought most EVs have a turtle mode. They don't just stop if you ignore the warnings. Lowest I've got down to is about 12 miles and then it was only trying to run it low to see what happens.

Yeah you get a tortoise mode on almost all BEV's. Had ours down to well below most peoples comfort zone, but having had the car for the best part of 5 years you know what it can and can't do. I guess a lot of people maybe panic, and assume that the charger show on the map is the only one and try to reach it or something, or miss a turn off and then are SOL. Hard to say how you manage to run of of charge with so many bongs, and warning, and power limits etc.

The one he attended just before meeting my mum was where the person had come to a complete stop in the central reservation crossing on the A31, minutes from home, so they must have REALLY been ignoring the warnings.

I think people treat the battery garage like ICE car, expecting a good few miles once your down to zero, which is not how it works for most EVs.
Yep, I can only get ~4 miles past 0%, maybe less now, I try not to go below 2% if I can.

They've have to ignored that car in limp/turtle mode for a considerable distance, they'd have to have crawled along for a fair distance.
Similar % of ICE cars run out of fuel. Its the same behavior.

Perhaps they stopped themselves when it got to crawl speed as they didn’t want to cross a dual carriageway NSL

surely it's safer to cross a DC or motorway when travelling slowly than it is to just anchor up and stop in the middle of the road?
my parents had an almost similar issue earlier on this year. on a major roundabout around the A50 their engine just cut out. they tried to get safe but failed as they did not have enough momentum to coast them off the road. It was really lucky not to cause a huge accident a few HGVs almost hit them.
turned out my dad had filled up with petrol in his diesel vehicle!. being stopped on a fast road is not fun at all!.

Question for people.
I currently have a Polestar 2 on SS, which I love, but it's very stiff and hard over the ever growing number of potholes in Bristol and is a struggle with my Wifes disability.
The lease is up next year and I was thinking about getting something a bit smaller, like the Born or Megane, obviously going to get some test drives in, but what are peoples experience in terms of ride comfort in some other smaller EVs I may not have considered?
I don't really want to go back to an SUV, but if that is the only way for a nicer ride then I might consider a Q4 E-Tron or Mustang, what are peoples thoughts on more comfortable mid size SUVs?
*Edit to say, range is not a huge issue, when I was first getting an EV I was a bit nervous about smaller battery lower range cars, hence the Polestar, but I am just not so concerned about that now, 3 times a year max I do more than 100 miles from home*

The EX40 or C40 are both the same chassis as a Polestar but tuned much more for comfort. They also both have a lot more practicality. Both SUV style but both very good. They are also shorter than the Polestar with a slightly shorter wheelbase so easier for parking.
My wife and I test drove a Polestar and a C40 and the C40 was more comfortable and more practical and a much more sensible roomy interior. The big clincher was that it had two cup holders instead of one in the Polestar.

It was on the section between dual carriageways which are used to cross the oncoming traffic. If it had been busy, and it usually is, they may not have been confident they could get across at all
If the car is moving even if in turtle/limp mode, you just crawl to the nearest charger. The RAC isn't needed for that.
Who drives into the middle of dual carriage in limp mode.

Do P2/xc40/c40 share same suspension system .. or do you get variation like across skoda->audi on same platform (steel/aluminium/multi-link)

That's MEB platform&suspension + weight, for better or worse, it will become the new normal - test drove a MB c200 to replace a old 3touring last week - the extra 200kg & 9g automatic alone, it's the slippery slope

I've now got the Zappi EV charger and on Nov 1st we can leave our Utility company without a fine.
Is Octpus iGo still the best option or are there other companies doing cheap EV and Home tariffs eg E-On Next Drive?
