I think you miss-interpreted my post. I was referring to the rear wiper itself, not the button.Huh? On every car I've ever driven you control the rear wiper by pushing the wiper stalk forward or backwards? How's that "looking trash"?
I disagree wholeheartedly. I have a coupe and my god do I miss not having a rear wiper. Unless I clean the glass thoroughly and regularly it doesn't take a lot to make the glass dirty, then the water stops beading off. Plus it only beads off above 45-50mph ish anyway. I drive mostly around town so it never clears unless I get out and do it manually. I agree that hatchbacks and SUVs need them more, but I'd still benefit from having one.You don’t really need one anyway, as soon as you are moving, the water beads off the glass.

Most modern saloon cars and ‘sport back’ crossover SUVs don’t have a rear wiper because of there is nowhere to physically put the wiper without just plopping it in the back of the car which looks trash.

Why are you looking behind you? :S Those are the losersI disagree wholeheartedly. I have a coupe and my god do I miss not having a rear wiper. Whereas I was talking about the controls for the front wind-screen wiper, so I think we have been cheerfully talking past one another![]()
Or you adapt and realise pressing cold and hot together at same time with two fingers turns on the heated seats. The heating buttons are separated from the volume with a ridge too. So no idea why people struggle with it. It’s doesn’t need to be lit upOne of the worst things about the ID.3. Just a terrible idea. They have been improved in the latest models, including basics like backlighting for the heat and volume controls IIRC, but it's still poor. You'd have to find it a lot more annoying that I do to think that's a deal breaker, though, especially when you compare to a Tesla doing stuff like not having a binnacle and getting rid of the wiper and indicator controls on stalks.
Nope, it's just plain bad. It's not a question of adapting, it's a question of the technology being substantially worse to use. Less ergonomic, more fiddly, and as a result requires more of your attention to use. Take a trivial thing like switching on heated seats, on most older cars I tap a button a couple of times (VW/Seat) or turn a dial (Skoda), on the ID.3 I have to look at a screen to find the button, press part of the screen, wait a second, press part of the screen a couple of times - and because it has no actual physical presence I can't even locate my finger against the switch I have to compensate for the movement of the car.
Thankfully the number of complaints seems to be pushing car designers back to having sensible controls for basic functions, so I think this is the only generation of cars which will be this bad.

You can just change heat with the on screen temp by pressing on the screen and sliding left or right, the screen it always lit up too. Again people complain because they don’t actually read how to use the controls properly and revert to the ‘typical’ way
For id3/vw screen you can rest fingers on top and use thumb if it’s bumpy

Whilst it may not be an issue for some, it is for others. It doesn't help that my driveway is right next to an enormous oak tree, so the car regularly gets covered in tree sap etc. It only takes a matter of days after wiping it before you can't see out the back properly in the dark, especially in the spring & autumn when there's lots of junk coming off the tree.I've not once wished I had one on any of my saloon cars. It's just never an issue.
Top value add, good job with your high effort posting there.

The way folk push back against other peoples opinions as if they are "wrong" makes me wonder why the market hasn't responded and just given a singular entity of a vehicle that works for everyone![]()
People get on at VW for the sliders but some cars don't have a slider at all and only use the screen but somehow there's far less hate?
