EV general discussion

Is the latest craze to emblazon the manufactures name on the rear end, Audi just decided to do the front :D

I'm all for changing cars looks. One day I'll like one of them :) I hated the Kona front with the off centre charging flap.. then I bought one! Sometimes these car looks grow on me.

I'm an compact SUV convert, since I'm tall I prefer a car higher up as it's easier to get in/out of.

I don't get it.

What does having the word "AUDI" achieve, rather than just slapping the traditional 4 rings logo on that big front slab (or the leading edge of the bonnet)?

Yeh.. Honestly it looks kind of awkward. A logo/badge looks far better....and if that is their new logo then...lol.

I really don't like the new trend of spelling the brand out in letters on the back. It looks pants to me and I much prefer the logo. At least Merc and BMW have yet to follow that trend.

so have Audi outside of China for now at least. My brother in law is handing in his hybrid audi in a month or sos time. i will be interested to see what he gets next but if its an audi again i expect it will still be a proper looking one!.

I don't get it on the new Model 3 vs the old one just having the "T" in the middle (like mine has). Latter looks cleaner as there is nothing else on the boot. Worst I have seen though is owners of the old ones adding the letters from the new one... why?!

Maybe I am in the minority on that one but *shrugs*.

The new Model Y looks dumpy AF at the rear.

Apparently that top part of the boot is plastic and replaceable on its own.

The current boot lid meant to be source of a disproportionate number of insurance claims from people opening the boot onto a low roof or rear end damage. The lip on the top sticks out further than the bumper and if it gets any damage to the lip, the whole lot is replaced.

the indirect glow off of the light bar looks as though it will be cool at night.

the boot lip is plastic to improve the aero, they couldn't bend metal at the optimal angle (think that was in the munro & Y design lead interview)

ergh I agree about the rear end it's the 1st time I have seen the back of the refresh. shame as the front is a massive improvement looks wise imo

It's still a fugly car but at least it doesn't look quite as much like a Model S that got divorced and spent a year doing nothing with its evenings but eating Pukka Pies and crying into a six-pack of beer in its underwear.

Hopefully it will sell miserably.

Still won't touch a Tesla with a bargepole so makes 0 difference to me but if they do a similar job with the Y as the 3 then I think overall it'll be an improvement. The newer headlights and DRLs alone make a huge difference to how smart they look imo

I really like the new Model 3, the changes to the lights really sharpened it up, and I think Tesla written across the back looks good (not always the case). The car itself is much better in terms of quality too.

The new Model Y isn’t bad, but I think the front looks like the logo has fallen off… perhaps not a bad thing these days!

Same. If/when I get my future second hand Porsche I want it to be the ultimate sleeper car. Those can have the black letters and the model badge can be removed which I think looks awesome.

On the topic of naff branding how long will it be until light up badges become a thing of the past. They all look awful!

They always remind me of the masks people used to fit to their third brake lights in the mid nineties Max Power style. Yes mate, we know it's a Focus, you don't need a light spelling it out :p

Most letters or badges can be removed with a hairdryer and floss, you can certainly order a audi without badges as well.
Some people say my butt looks terrible but personally I can't see it myself - boom boom.
I'll get my coat...

Quite like them myself, the light up grilles can get in the bin though
