EV general discussion

Anybody else got a email from OHME today about being paid to plug the car in? Apparently you don't even have to charge it, just plug it in. It's by invite only but this is what it seems to be about.

Incedentally, Ohme did a couple of updates over the past month and the one last week seems to have sorted out the remaining bugs with Nissan's not having the SOC read by the charger as the last few charges have been problem free at last.

Wife ended up really liking the Mini Countryman Electric so we picked that up on Thursday.

I definitely prefer the Tesla but it’s nice enough to drive. The infotainment feels so slow compared to the Tesla!
The infotainment seemed a massive step back from the previous one imo. I tried one in the dealership when they first came out and commented how slow it was, and was told it was an early demonstrator and that the production ones would be better - clearly not!

It’s most noticeable when you first jump in, it takes a while to all load up and get going. In some ways it just seems a bit bloated with loads of useless crap.

It’s definitely not the worst though. Some of the other cars we looked at had awful software

Those wheels/tyres look like it would give a poor ride vs something more sensible. As for the infotainment speed, are BMW/mini supposed to have a new version out next month?

It’s actually very comfortable which is surprising but we are used to the Clubman JCW which is horrendous :p

No idea on a new version I’ve not seen anything?

With regards to my query about ev chargers

Syntax error. Why are you trying to reply to posts and then saying Google hasn’t helped you ?

damn I hate it when I miss the good stuff!.
one of the things I love about EVs is the ability to remote cool the. I made good use of that today. arguably of all the features of new cars that is one of the most useful imo

Yes, yes, yes! Tried this out the last week on mine and it's brilliant. Just set the AC on for 5 mins before leaving the house. So much more comfortable than a boiling hot oven car.

Oh god yes! My Model Y told me it was 58c in the car last week. So I told it to put the AC on. Then 5mins later it was 18c and nice and cool when i left work.

I made the mistake the day previously to turn on the cabin overheat function. and pressed 30c... It used 14% of the battery just trying to keep it below 30c all day.
Wont make that mistake again haha

There is a setting on that where it will only circulate the fans, no AC.

It’s meant to stop your killing your kids and pets if you accidentally leave them in the car rather than to act as a method to keep the car cool for when you get in.
