EV general discussion

On the tire subject I've had conti all seasons fitted to my ID3 since a few weeks post buying it, efficiency is still pretty much bang on what you'd expect and it's been perfectly composed driving in the rubbish conditions over the last few days. I was initially slightly worried about being RWD but it's not even lit up the traction light so far.

The cold has certainly increased my battery usage! Not even running the heated seats and am on full regen. Fortunately range isn’t an issue for me, but it’s interesting to see my battery usage almost double.

Pre-heating is very much appreciated by the child on the school run (and me on the early morning office days!). There is something about sending a child out to scrape the car windows on a cold icy morning building character, whilst watching from a warm house with a cup of tea, that i think we will all come to ragret in future years...... :D

Entertainment package is expiring soon on my i5, no more console games or videos on the center console. Think i tried it once in the year i've had it, so that's £55 staying in my pocket for the annual subscription.

Couple of reports on the i5 facebook groups of people's windscreens cracking during pre-heating too!

What was the reason for changing from an EV and what Mild Hybrid did you go for?
I'd had enough of hanging around charging points across the country in the cold and rain. Driving across Anglesey to charge car, dead charging points, (supposed) super fast chargers which took forever as all points being used. £70 to fully charge the i4 .... its a long list.
BMW 120 48v/3 cyl now.... great on gas and zero hastle.

Yeah tough gig if you are in the arse end of no where .

It's the future! And I'll offset my CO2 some other way.

To be fair that is a long slog with no home charging.

I wouldn’t own an EV without home charging at the moment and there is a bank of 8 rapid chargers 2 min drive from my house.

That said, if you did have home charging, your experience would be completely different.
No it wouldn't, I was driving all over the country, sometimes in freezing conditions?
