I tried to do this when Zappi or Octopus broke a little while ago. I couldn't add just the Zappi back in for some reason, only the car. Something has changed recently.

Edit, actually read your post properly. Adding an unsupported car... interesting. I might give that a go!

Octopus prefer car integrations, I suspect for various reasons but an obvious major one being more reliable reporting of actual battery state of charge that stops people falsely requesting 100% charges (whether intentional or not) that drive their algorithms to add more off peak charging slots, even though the car is perhaps already half full. I suspect it's not a coincidence that it's happening more now, at the same time they're also looking to start enforcing the 6hr smart charging fair use clauses.

Why can't I connect through my charger?

Why?

A charger integration works by ‘topping up’ your battery by a relative amount, which is less precise.

(Don't worry, if your EV isn't compatible but your charger is, you'll be able to connect via your charger as usual!).

I can just picture him at a dealership - "yes I'm interested in that ID4 you have on the forecourt but I'd like my independent to carry out a full battery teardown and reassembly so I can inspect each battery cell prior to purchasing"


Imagine the look on their faces :D

It came with an independant battery health report and I was shown that the car had had all the recalls and bulletins appled. Sometimes things go wrong, how they are dealt with is key, and we are working through that now with the worst case being they refund me and cancel off the finance, I can't ask for fairer than that.

Excellent attitude to have.

This was served up to me by the algorithm last night. I don't really get it, I mean it's not like I sometimes zone out and watch cars crossing flooded fords while I'm at work... Or whatever :o

Anyway, remember folks, just because the drivetrain is waterproof you can't defy physics.

 
And what's with all the Chinese brands now, I swear there is like 10 new brands selling EVs that appeared out of nowhere in last 12 months

To be fair I did that with a diesel Qashqai awhile back and didn't lose the bumper... or unlike a couple of people did in the same flood turn my car over (it was very difficult to guage it in the dark to be fair).
