Looks like it to be honest. Because it’s along the seam, I’d say it’s water ingress and damage being done from inside out.
I have a possible theory that I’m going to look at shortly.

Haven’t they only just come out?Minutes later a Volvo EX60 (quite a few of these around here now)
wtf, what kind of monster company does that to the metalworkThe number plate on my Tesla isn’t the default Tesla one with the plastic frame mounting. It’s a branded one that the dealer applied.

Rear trunk corrosion
Cleaned the car today in readiness for a visit from Tesla Service to install an o-ring to the trunk power strut. Noticed what looks like corrosion on the underside of the trunk lid, and pointed it out to Tesla Service. He concurred and said it will need to go to the body shop. There’s your problem.Think I might have gotten to the problem, possibly.
The number plate on my Tesla isn’t the default Tesla one with the plastic frame mounting. It’s a branded one that the dealer applied.
Looked at some videos of number plate replacement for the Tesla. Below is what it looks like with the stock plate and mount removed. Pay attention to the mounting holes:
Now look at mine with the dealer applied plate removed:
Not even level and look at the state of one of the holes:
I suspect that water has ingressed here at a hunch. When raining or when I washed the car.
I’m due to take it to Tesla on the 28th for them to inspect it but I’d highly suspect they’d possibly point to that as the issue and won’t do anything under the warranty.
The place I purchased it from turnover a lot of Tesla’s so even looking on their website today, they’ve done the exactly same number plate replacement with all the Teslas they currently have up for sale.
Looks like my attention should be on them now but tempted to go via the Tesla route and if they reject it, give me written confirmation of why so I can go back to the dealer I purchased it from.
Will be 3 months on 5th September.
Not to be rude but the thread you posted relates to a model 3 and the poster has a model Y….nothing to do with the dealers drillings - scan the linked thread , as cleveley said boot seal has removed surface of poor paint near boot seal
allowing water ingress - use tesla corrosion warranty
But considering the time left to reject, make sure the dealer knows you intend to raise as a warranty claim with Tesla, but should they reject you will be back to them.
