Had a couple of drives in a Kia EV6 now.
I really like the look of these, but now I’ve been in one I’m surprised by how big of a car it feels on the road.

Had a couple of drives in a Kia EV6 now. nice internals, good looking car. I agree the boot isn't as big as you'd imagine it should be, but not an overriding concern for me.
One thing I did notice is that once you get to 35mph+, road noise becomes an issue, to the point that when you are at 60+, it doesn't matter that it doesn't have an engine as it would be drowned out anyway. Anyone else have similar/different experience ? This was an S-line, so wondering perhaps if the non-S variant (which has 19" wheels) might be a quieter experience. ALso note that the black part of the two-tone "alloy" wheels is actually a plastic clipon.
Our beaten up school-run car just died and we are looking at electronic cars.
Trying to research, bit of a minefield. Any recommendations for <30k?
Hyundi Ioniq, VD ID.3, MG MG ZS EV, MG MG5 SW, Mini Electric... this list goes on.
What do you want from a car, size, internal space, features?
Thanks for the suggestions. I've seen a few good reviews for the Ioniq.
Enough space and room for 2 car seats in the back.
Would ideally like to avoid tacky interiors but at the price range may not be an option.
Would prefer decent smooth tech.
I'd get yourself on some test drives tbh.
I love my Ioniq, it's mega efficient, plenty of up to date technology, comfortable, decent range in summer and winter. The only down side is if you like to do lots and lots of long trips then the DC charging rate isn't that fast, but it only has a 38kWh battery so that is somewhat negated. Cost wise, I've seen 20 plated models with less than 10k on the clock for £22k.
I’m just on the trigger too, just deciding what colour , the black looks good but space grey is few weeks till releaseHypervolt Charger install booked for the 13th Dec.![]()

To be honest this is the daily run around. We have an SUV for longer distances etc so the range doesn't bother.
BMW i3!
Easily fit 2 seats in the back. Only a 4-seater though and the boot space isn’t great.
I thought they were great until I started taking my son to school every morningGood suggestion if you can put up with the rear doors.

PITA if you’ve a wall or parked car close by and the rear passenger needs to get out.
Can’t comment on standard spec as I’m not in the UK. Don’t believe they come with heated steering wheels and electric seats aren’t available either. Like most BMWs though, you’ll need to find one with heated seats and Pro Nav, etc. Mine has the sunroof which, along with beige wool and light eucalyptus wood, really lifts the cabin. HK audio is decent and the LED lights are pretty good, even though main beam are normal halogens. What's the standard spec on an i3 like? Do you get heated seats, steering wheel etc.? When did they do the face lift with the much better/upgraded Infotaiment?
