Tesla do very little PDI on their used cars so in all honesty I wouldn’t put much value on it.

If it’s still in warranty then go with any dealer. Its out of the main car warranty then yeh Tesla may be a better deal as they offer a year IIRC.

Got them to check the workshop history of the one I’m looking at, it’s had 4 brand new tyres and the rear suspension knuckles done, will get a fresh MOT. Warranty until September next year plus a year on top of that.

Only faff will be having to travel up to collect it as it’s in Stockport (Trafford Centre will be the collection point).

EAP sort of off-sets it for me.
as someone who has EAP, I find it very useless
in the UK you can only use actually smart summon only within 6m of your location, so it's basically pointless
automatic lane change and on/off-ramp is similarly a bit of a gimmick, and i actually find myself not using any of the autopilots (normal or enhanced) even on the motorway
the phantom braking menace is real lol

This, and also as you are literally buying it as seen on the website, you can't really tell the condition of the car until you go to pick it up

Thankfully in my case, the car i wanted was at Birmingham Longbridge (I live in Brum) so I saw and test drove the vehicle before putting down the deposit
Also managed to wang out a full respray on the front bumper at no cost, prior to pickup.

Bonus is that the tyres were new, so that will last me a couple of years (Michelin Pilot Sport 4 acoustic T0)

Maybe something to consider if/when I get a highland in a few years :)
I would happily own a highland but those stalks would be a must. ideally Tesla would retrofit them for people when it goes in for a service (for free) as it's a safety issue imo (people are bad enough indicating on roundabouts as it is without losing the position of the button on lock.

I almost agree, how ever if indicating was taken seriously in this country then if you are caught not indicating it should be instant 3 points on your license, otherwise the car only needs indicators fitted to be legal, the driver can still be a pillock. Hopefully in 20 years will have actual self driving cars to stop these and many other terrible driving practices.

I can't argue with you that some people are utter selfish Berks WRT indicators ...... however I personally try my best to be considerate to other drivers but would prefer not to have a car that makes it harder to do that.
I love driving..... but I took can't wait for the day when cars drive themselves. ultimately it will be safer AND I can have a beer at the pub and get a free lift home
Sadly it looks like I won't get out of having to pony up the cost to teach my lad to drive :( (he is nearly 10)

Put the £200 reserve down for the M3P I like the look of. Turns out it's in the Tesla Stockport showroom alongside the highland M3P on display. Got them to send me a ton of photos and videos showing as much of the car as possible. Looks to be in great condition (as far as I can tell of course). Should be collecting Friday all being well (and assuming nothing comes back on the MOT, I'm expecting it to be completely clear).

I nearly walked away with a M3P Highland 74 plate with a couple thousand miles from Tesla. Pictures showed it was all pristine only when I put the £200 deposit down and asked again, everything all good…it came to light the alloys were damaged and there was scratches all over.

They tried to say it was a 2nd hand car and it’s wear and tear. I nor the general person would expect a vehicle being so new and low miles for nearly £50k to have damage so I cancelled.

After the initial 23 plate rejection I had with a VW dealership in the north I thought it’d be wise to just get something newer to avoid the damage that Tesla seems be a magnet for.

I gave up and got a Polestar 2….i think the Tesla is a better car ultimately but i just couldn’t find one that I was happy with and I wasn’t buying new.

Anyone here own a Model 3 Performance?

From a few of the owners groups of facebook there seem to be quite a lot of 2020-2021 ones that have had faulty batteries which need replacement.

It seems there was a 'bad' batch in the performance models around that time, way way more posts about the performances needing new batteries compared to the long range or standard range ones.

It'd personally not want to buy a performance pre '22 due to that reason, it's fine if its still under warranty as Tesla do seem pretty quick to change it out but i'd not want one over the 8 year/120k mile limit. Also when Tesla replace the battery you don't get a new one, just a recon one so there's been reports of the replacements failing too as it's just the same battery from the same batch being put back in.

Good to know. The car I've reserved is a September 2022 car so hoping that should be all good. It's from Tesla anyhow so have the warranty if the battery did go pop.

Turns out the thermometer in the plug on my Masterplug granny charger wasn't up to much. Checked the charger this evening as the car only charged to 34%... Plug and socket melted.

Weird that it lasted well over 11 months before becoming an issue. Maybe arcing slightly and got worse over time?

Edit - chopping the plug off shows that there was no thermometer in the plug... So much for the temperature monitoring if it ignores the bit that actually gets hot.

On the plus side I can just wire a new plug on.

Surely it doesn’t cost that much to have it in the plug

That’s how the master plug saved a bit of money then.
I'm annoyed with myself because I saw temperature monitoring and throttling then assumed that it would actually be measuring the bit that mattered. You know what they say about assumptions...

Also, an apology due to cuke2u who I berated for plugging his in to an extension which lead to a similar outcome. Turns out it would have made no difference if it was plugged in directly.
