EV general discussion

It's interesting calling various garages for test drives. Some have great customer service, responsive and welcoming, with test drives booked within days. Others are less so, with a "computer says no" attitude, delays in responding, and tactics such as, "Well, we can book it in if you're serious, usually reserved for those who have signed on the dotted line; we don't want to waste anyone's time, do we now?"

Yes, I'm calling for TD for the lols.

Built in BMW at the moment, i'll also use ZapMap. It's worthwhile getting the Tesla app too, with more of them opening up you get a pretty decent rate using their chargers.

Some of the dealers these days are terrible, you'd think they'd be loving a potential sale this time of year. Sometimes you can do them via branded website, and they get booked on your behalf - not sure if all brands can do that mind.
 
We went EV shopping yesterday with quite a mixed response.

First off was the Renault dealership to test a 5. The guy we dealt with was great. He even offered for us to take it home for the weekend. It's the car I would like Mrs EddScott to get but she didn't like it very much.

Next stop was Vauxhall for a Corsa E. Quite helpful sales chap, was happy to hand over the keys. I hated it but she found it closer to what she is used to.

VW for an ID3 - too big and they only had one to look round which had been sold.

Finally we finished at the local Peugeot dealers to look at a 208 - could see it was similar to the Corsa but a much nicer place the be. The sales person could not have been dismissive. Before we even spoke about how to pay he couldn't be bothered and when we said it would be lease hire he just said I can't help you and picked the phone up.

I get he may not have been interested as we're looking to lease and most likely would have gone online for the deal but the Renault dude knew this also and was still happy to give us the car for the weekend.


In other news, the PHEV Passat is being delivered 6th Jan so the iPace will be getting a clean up and sold on. Probably through Motorway.

Did you look at the new Micra? I think its nicer inside than the R5, and looks more like a Corsa (maybe?) on the outside?
 
Strangely when I was going used I had no problems with sales people being good. They were always willing and helpful for obvious reasons.

It must be because used are never done as a lease that bypasses the dealership.
